Father Lacombe Care Foundation
To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours.
It started in 1910 when four women had a calling to provide a safe haven for the elderly in the Calgary area. The Legacy continues 109 years on.
When faced with difficult health issues, such as complex medication management, behavious that place them or others at risk or end-of-life needs, families will seek out long term care placement for their loved one and we are often at the top of the preferred list of providers. It is important that seniors get to live in a setting that matches their level of need, mobility and care requirements. This important for their safety, dignity and quality of life.
Currently, Father Lacombe Care Centre and Providence Care Centre are home to 274 residents, mostly seniors, who require assistance with activities of daily living from dressing to feeding, offer programs to engage residents in life and not living in isolation.
The Foundation was established to raise funds for equipment that keeps the residents safe, helps them with their mobility and bolster their dignity. We also raise funds that allow us to do renovations to address the continually changing needs of the residents including the Healing Garden, new bathing rooms and kitchenettes, Sensory Rooms and a new Chapel.
You can make a difference in the lives of seniors by helping us keep bodies moving, brains active and spirits lifted. We provide the special touches that make Father Lacombe and Providence Care Centres truly a home for our residents. After all . . . . "There's no place like home."
